What makes PartingWishes.com better than a do-it-yourself will kit?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PartingWishes.com Launches Online Funeral and Estate Planning Services
Taking Advantage of the Ultimate Convenience of the Internet
May 31, 2001 -- PartingWishes.com has launched their online funeral and
estate planning services web site. This innovative Internet site allows members
to create and maintain their Funeral wishes,
Last Will and Testament, Living
Will, Power of Attorney, and other advanced
directives securely online from the convenience of their web browser.
The web site has launched by offering a free service to the public, called "MyFuneral".
Members step through a simple question and answer wizard covering issues such as
organ donation, the style of funeral service they would like, and whether they would
like to be buried or cremated. Only designated "Keyholders®", specified by
the member, can use a unique key to unlock the member's information when the time
is right. The member is able to step through the MyFuneral wizard, store their
information online, identify their Keyholders® and make unlimited updates 24 hours
a day, all free of charge.
Another service to be made available very soon is "MyMessages",
which allows members to compose text or multimedia messages to their friends or
loved ones. These messages are only delivered to their recipients after they
are released by a designated Keyholder® after the member has passed away.
Again this service is currently free of charge.
PartingWishes.com is an incorporated company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
founded in September 2000 by Henry Raud and Tim Hewson. It was formed after
the two friends working in the hi-tech industry realized that neither they, nor
any of their friends or colleagues, had made any provisions for their death.
"We knew that it was something that we should have done," explains CEO Hewson "but
describing your preferences for a funeral and setting up the legal documentation
is extremely expensive and inconvenient. Although do-it-yourself Will kits
exist, they are often of very poor quality, don't offer the full range of services
we provide, and they don't always get to the right people at the right time."
President and CTO Raud adds "We felt that the power of the Internet hadn't been
effectively used in this industry, and our approach is unique. Most people
do not have a Will, even though they know it is absolutely essential. PartingWishes.com
allows anybody to create their funeral wishes and related legal documentation, and
make it centrally available on the Internet only to the right people and only at
the appropriate time."
