2 Timothy 4:7



For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 

                          

                   

Wilbur Milton Johnson Sr. departed this life on Tuesday afternoon, July 15th.  His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.  He was born and raised in Richmond Virginia.  He was educated in the Richmond Public Schools system, graduating from Maggie L. Walker High School.  Wilbur was united in marriage to Lillian Moore, from their union came three children, Deborah, Sharon and Wilbert Jr.



During his lifetime he worked for serveral local retail establishments, including La Vogue, and Saxon Shoes from which he retired.  Never once to rest for long, he re-entered the workforce after retirement and was employed by Eddies Outlet until his death.  In his spare time Wilbur enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading poetry, and debating current events with friends.  He was also an avid 49er's and Lakers fan.



Wilbur was an active member of the Richmond Christian Center congregation.  He participated in the healing ministry and faithfully attended mid-week services.  His church family and his faith were very important to him.  



He was a very loving and compassionate man, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed his assistance.



Cherished memories of Wilbur will remain forever in the hearts of his wife, Lillian Johnson; son, Wilbert Jr.; daughters, Deborah and Sharon; grandsons, Corey, Shannon, Marq; brother, Edward Harris; sisters, Leola Johnson, Gloria Singleton; brothers-in-law, James Moore Sr., Silas Smith; sisters-in-law, Althea Johnson, Lois Smith, Lola Walker, MaryAnn Stukes, Cyril Moore; sons-in-law, Derek Spinner, David Alexander; daughter-in-law, Valerie Johnson, and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, especially his devoted best friend, Jerry Lewis.

  When tomorrow starts without me

   And I'm not there to see,

      If the sun should rise

And find your eyes all filled with tears for me;

   

I wish so much that you wouldn't cry

      The way you did today,

   While thinking of the many things

       We didn't get to say.

   

I know how much you love

As much as I love you,

And each time that you think of me

I know you'll miss me too;



But when tomorrow starts without me

Please try to understand,

That an angel came and called my name,

And took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,

  In heaven far above,

And that I'd have to leave behind

All those I dearly love.



So when tomorrow starts without me,

Don't think we're far apart,

For every time you think of me

I'm right here, in your heart.
