Mary Elizabeth Booth Dallas passed away September 23, 2004 in Indianapolis at the age of 78. Marybeth was born September 21, 1926 in Sharpsville, Indiana to Vern and Clara Booth. After graduating from Sharpsville High School in 1944, Marybeth attended Lindenwood College in Missouri and then graduated from Depauw University in 1948. She then attended Indiana School of Medicine and graduated in 1952 as one of the few graduating female physicians in that era. Further training followed at Seaside Hospital in Long Beach California, Lahey Clinic in Boston and Indiana University where Marybeth completed her residency in Anesthesiology in 1957. She continued her career as an Associate Professor of Anesthiesiology at Indiana University. While in internship at Seaside Hospital, Marybeth met her future husband Fred R. Dallas of Long Beach California who was in his surgical residency. They married on January 2, 1954. Marybeth and Fred then spent time in Berlin, Germany during his military service before returning to Indianapolis to continue their careers and start their family. They had two children, Carol and Stephen. Marybeth was active in local organizations. She was past president of the Visiting Nurse Association, Marion County Medical Auxiliary and the community service organization Alpha Epsilon Latreian. Marybeth's loving devotion to her family and friends is a lasting comfort. Marybeth is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Fred R. Dallas; her daughter Carol and her husband David Farr; grandsons, Andrew and Eric.
