This year will be our first Christmas without Grandpa Dischler to join us in celebration.  My dad wants only one gift this year, and that is to have his dad home for the holiday.  I can't make that wish come true, but I help keep his memory alive in all our hearts.

In his honor, here is the obituary that was appeared in the Wisconsin State Journal on July 23, 2004:

Anthony H. "Pat" Dischler, age 83, of Plain, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at the Maplewood Nursing Home, Sauk City. He was born on May 10, 1921, in Plain, the son of John B. and Mary (Brickl) Dischler. He was married on Nov. 27, 1940, to the former Mary Bindl. Pat and Mary began their 62 years of marriage farming in the rural Highland and Avoca areas. He later worked with Curtiss Candy Company in the field technician division. He later went to work for Edward Kraemer and Sons in 1958, as a gravel supervisor, where he retired from the Operating Engineers Local No. 139 in 1986. Pat loved country western music, with one of the highlights being performing on the WLS Barn Dance in Chicago, Ill. He later performed with the Blau family from Plain on WRDB, Reedsburg, in the weekly Blau Family Hour. Pat was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed several hunting trips to Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, as well hunting with family and friends. He loved the Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee Braves and Green Bay Packers. Pat was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Survivors include his wife, Mary Dischler of Plain; three children, John (Charlotte) Dischler of Plain, Joanne (David Hibbard) Dischler of Rhinelander, and Pat (Shelia) Dischler of Oregon; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Greg) Burke of Plain, Steve (Patricia) Dischler of Prairie du Sac, Ryan (Tanya) Quint of Fort Atkinson, Nicole (Jeff) Maly of Waunakee, and Erin and Kristina Dischler, both of Oregon; nine great-grandchildren; two siblings, Alma Mueller of Spring Green, and Sister Juliana O.P. of Appleton; two sisters-in-law, Rose Dischler of Plain, and Marlene Dischler of Loganville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Mary Dischler; a sister, Ann Servais; four brothers, Gerhardt, Mike, Paul and John F. Dischler; three brothers-in-law, Art Servais, Joe Weiss and Wilbert Mueller; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Dischler.
