Notes and messages

She Walks In Light

She walks in light with the sun smiling on her gentle face
She had a smile to equal the sunniest day
The openness and effervescent personality
Caused dark clouds to disappear

Karen, you were a wonderful wife, mother, daughter,
sister, aunt, godmother, relative, and friend,
you are sorely missed.

Take care of her Lord, for she is with you now.

Until we meet again on that glorious day!

- The Family, 8 December 2003

The family wishes to express their most grateful appreciation for your prayers, support, floral tributes, and acts of kindness. May God Bless You and keep you in His care.

Acknowledgements, 8 December 2003

I praise Allah, the Creator of heavens & the earth, there is no god but He. May Allah shed light upon Karen and upon her grave. May Allah grant the Foster's much patience & perseverance and bless them with a large reward, mercy, and guidance. May Allah increase our reward, grant us all patience, perseverance, and give us all the power to offer our thanks, for verily, our lives, our wealth, and our families are gifts of Allah entrusted to us only for awhile. Mercy & Blessings be upon you all!

Karen was an outstanding member of NOAA Chapter of Blacks in Government. She was articulate, bright and willing to do her part for the good of the organization. She was a strong
supporter of our many projects. In February of 1997, Karen participated in our annual
scholarship awards program presenting student biographies for each of the $1,000 high school student winners. Karen was admired and respected and we shall miss her forever.

B. Tobe for NOAA BIG, 24 December 2003

Karen will be missed for her warm smile, her kind words and deeds. She graciously shared endearing stories of Samira, her admiration for Sam and her faith in the Lord. She was a living example of love thy neighbor and do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Comfort with reassuring comments of Faith in the Lord will be a reminder of her deep concern for others. These traits will serve as a template as I strive to reflect some of the light, strength, and Faith she so rifely displayed.

Dennis Hansford, friend and co-worker, 30 December 2003

It never dawned on me that this strong, spiritual person would never beat this horrible disease. When reality hit, it was like a ton of bricks. I never realized, as I look at her picture, that I would never see Karen again. I miss you Karen. If only we, as mere mortals, had the power to turn back the hands of time. To quote a famous song, it's so hard to say goodbye,,,to yesterday,,,and that is so very true. I miss you Karen, but your beautiful spirit lives on.
