Wayne had a wonderful way of focusing his attention upon you. I was only a friend through my brother-in-law Randy Scholl, and not close to Wayne. However, whenever we would meet, Wayne was intently interested in what I had to say. It made me feel accepted and acknowledged. What a tremendous gift to give another person...your attention. What a good man Wayne was. Graysen if you try to be like your Dad, you'll be a sucess in whatever you do.

Correction: The photo captioned "Priest Lake 'toy'" corresponds to the email, "Wayne from P.L.," which was contributed by me (not anonymously) and can be accessed at Memorabilia rather than here at Personal Notes. Wayne had a wonderfully dry sense of humor, even about his illness, which I wanted you to hear in his own words....

Today I came across my "Wayne" file and read every one. I was overwhelmed with smiles and sadness. Wayne's genuine love and concern for others was so evident. Every email I received from him graciously gave me an update on his life/health, but he always spent more time asking about my health/family/life. I think he is the most unselfish person I've ever known. He will always live in the hearts of the Mercado family. Laura and Graysen, our hearts are with you now and forever.

I remember Wayne for his words of wisdom through jubilant and tough times alike. Our friendship transcended blood lines and generational barriers. Wayne had a knack for mediation, perhaps because he could not help but be loved by all. I cherish every memory of my uncle, and I know that for every moment that was taken from us, something he said or did will inspire us to overcome our own obstacles. In memory of my uncle, friend, and eternal motivation, we love you Wayne. You are forever with us.
