Edwin was born to Bernard and Anna (Greka) Taratuta in Posen, MI, the 2nd of 9 children. He lived in Hawks, MI for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Daniel. He was a professional long distance truck driver for 50 years. He was married in 1954 to Genevieve Wilk at St Dominic's Catholic Church, Metz, MI. Together they had three children: John, Brian and Carolyn. He was drafted in the US Army in 1954-6, touring Italy and Austria. He was a member of the VFW, in which every year he would be seen waitering for the Posen Potato Festival. He enjoyed reading, politics, and Lawrence Wilk. He was a great dancer of waltzes and polkas! He served as Presque Isle County commissioner for 2 terms. He was a member of St Dominic's Church and served as an usher there as well as at St Ignatius when he was a member there. He was a religious man, frequently saying the Rosary while truck driving. We his family credit his love of prayer as being the reason he in all of the 50 years of trucking, never had a mishap of any kind! Edwin will always be remembered for his patience, generosity, and kindness. He was a quite man who wanted to show his example more than by any spoken words. This was the man who lived the Golden Rule.
