All Personal Notes for SSG Tilford James Barton III

SSG Barton - you were a husband, a father, a patriot, a caregiver to Soldiers, and a true patriot. We may have lost our comrade and brother, but we will never forget. God bless you.

The world is a sadder place today. We will not only remember how you were always there with a smiling face and timeless advice, but also how we felt just by being around you. Your relaxed manner and professional attitude made you a great soldier and leader. Those of us who knew you will always be touched by your grace. Goodbye friend.

I've been considering what to say here, and its too hard to think of something appropraite. Instead, I'll just reminisce about all the good times we had. I'll remember all the advice you gave me about leading soldiers. I'll never forget how you helped me to pass my Sergeants board. I'll never forget those games of pool, and how you let me win every once in awhile. I am such a better person for having met ya. Trust me when I say that you will never be forgotten.

Jamie, you gave us constant smiles, unconditional love, and you gave us life. You were my Prince Charming, the man of my dreams. You were the Daddy of the Year, every day. I will miss your wonderful smiles, how you always made me roll my eyes. I'll miss watching "The Show" (the sunsets) with you. I will miss how wonderful you always made me feel. Our love was one in a million. I have been so lucky to have you in my life. Thank You Jamie. I Will Love You Forever.

Melanie, Alexis, and family,
I am so far away, and you really do not know me well. But I care so deeply about your loss of Jamie. Love is so precious, and life too short.
Please know that I hold you and Alexis in my heart and in my prayers always.
May God strengthen you and uphold you all in this time of sorrow.

Jamie, my favorite son-in-law! How would you not be everyone's favorite? You loved my daughter deeply and freely. You were the best daddy to my granddaughter. You taught her and loved her well. You brought us all such joy and laughter. I will miss you as I would miss one of my own children. I will be forever thankful that you were part of our family.

SSG Barton,

We miss you. You were an excellent Soldier, NCO, and friend of Dragon Company. Your absence is felt and you are dearly missed. May your children know that you were a tremenduous human being and dedicated leader of men. Thank you for your service to our Soldiers and to your country. Your portrait is up in our Day Room and your name adorns our Hall of Fame Plaque.
