Vora Piscitelli age 89, formerly of Flint and Higgins Lake, died April 19, 2005 in Estero, Florida.

Vora was born to Richard and Zada Anne (Cryderman) Deyoung on December 5, 1915 in Allis, Michigan. She grew up in the small northern Michigan town of Onaway on an 80 acre farm east of town. She graduated from Onaway High School in 1932. In 1933 she attended County Normal Training School in Onaway. Vora married Arnold A. Lefler on June 24th, 1934 and moved to Flint where Arnold was employed. They became parents in March, 1935 to a son whom they named Arnold Richard after his father and grandfather Richard DeYoung. Two years later in October of 1937 a daughter named Glea Rae was born. She was a doting Mother of her two children, a great cook and homemaker. Working for Mc Donald Dairy Arnold had a serious accident around 1941 taking a fall off a horse drawn milk wagon which he was driving. As the story goes, he was getting milk off the wagon when some children spooked the horse. He lost his balance and fell breaking his back. Due to this unfortunate accident, Vora became a working Mom and Arnold stayed home for many months until he was able to return to work. Vora was employed by the Flint Post Office for approximately 10 years. She changed to banking in the 1950’s and retired from Genesee Merchants Bank after 25 years of loyal service. She was an inspiration to her family and friends managing a household, becoming a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Beecher High School Board, an avid bowler and worked full time. Arnold preceded her in death in June 1964. She married Petro Piscitelli February 2, 1967. She is survived by daughter, Glea (Jerry) Fischer, son Arnold (Judy) Lefler; a sister, Catherine (Don) Jones, a brother Jay DeYoung; grandchildren Tanya (Dave) Forrester, Antony (Lisa) Poma, Robin (Jerry) Forge, Todd (Eva) Lefler, Tammy (Elliott) Truman, Shawn (Don) Hough, step-grandson Tom Lefler; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
