Notes and messages

My Son helped me so much after the death of his Dad 2 years ago, and now he's gone too. I'll never be the same without my BEAR!!!! He never left the house without telling me he loved me and giving me a hug and kiss goodby. Till we meet again my heart will ache.

Barry's mom, 31 July 2006

Boop was my nephew, who was taken from us in a motorcycle accident. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.I cannot express how much he meant to me.It must be a macho man thing, that we do not tell other men how much we love them. Boop, is a name that i have called Barry since he was about 5 years old.I hope that Boop knew how much he meant to me.Hope to see you soon.

Barry was a good person not afraid to show he cared for you and always greeted you with a smile. He promised his Dad who died of cancer that he would take of his Mom.He did a good job-his Dad would be proud. We loved him dearly-our hearts are broken. We know he's in a better place, but it doesn't seem to ease our pain. Maybe in time. We're happy for him, but there's a void in our lives.I'm sure Barry knew he was loved and I look forward to seeing him again someday.

Aunt Jill, 1 August 2006

Do you walk among God's stars at night,
and soar with eagles in their flight.
Your new life a joy beyond our scope,
until morning dawns with blessed hope.
You would not have us sad with grief,
though your zest for life seemed much to brief.
You'd wish us love and laughter, and now
and then some tears,
to wash away the sorrows of swiftly passing
years.
We know that joy unending and God's
amazing grace,
will hold you ever steadfast in the Savior's
sweet embrace.

Im always gonna miss throwing the football around or just laughing with Barry.I remember when uncle Moe died how hard Barry was taking it,but all through the funeral he kept making sure that I was alright and he kept doing things to make me laugh. It was his Dad that died but he was still looking out for me and making sure I was alright.Thats something that I will always remember about him.He was a great person and more than a cousin.I know we will all be with him again someday

Josh Pike...cousin, 2 August 2006

About a week before his accident, Barry stopped by to see me. I hadn't seen him for a little while and it was cool that he had stopped. As we get older our lives are changing and we lose touch with what we later may regret. We talked about our jobs, toys, and women. He played my new guitar and told me about his new one. We talked about his bike and he was going to bring it by for me to see. I was looking forward to seeing him again. I'm going to miss him and the good times we shared.

Cousin Steve, 2 August 2006

Barry Kaufman was tough on the outside but had a huge heart. He always had time to talk, and made everyone feel as though they were special. The good times we had will forever be with me...I'll miss you dude!!!!

Friend, 3 August 2006

When I heard Barry got his bike around the same time I’d gotten mine, I was hoping to ride together sometime. We’ve had some great times in the past; fishing, boating, playing music together, or just goofing off over a few beers. Something about this all just doesn’t seem real, and in a sense it isn’t, because Christ conquered death for us all some 2000 years ago, and thanks to Him, Barry and I will take that ride someday soon.

Jeff, 3 August 2006

We sat beside your bedside, not knowing what to do, all that we could offer, was to give our love to you, you fought your pain with dignity, with patience and no fuss, then suddenly one afternoon, your pain became too much. God saw you gettin weary, He did what He thought was best, he put his arms around you and whispered come to rest. Wish I could be with you Bear

Mom, 4 August 2006

As a kid I spent a lot of time with cousins. While I was the tag along little cousin, Barry always greeted me with a smile & took time to play & joke around. Even as an adult, he was always present at family gatherings & took the time to catch up with us.At our last Christmas party, I talked with Barry about his dream of making guitars.I am sorry he won't have the opportunity to share such talents with the world. Family events will never be the same. He is sorely missed & will never be forgotten.

Barry's cousin, Sherri, 4 August 2006

Ruskin drive will never again symbolize for me a place where the affluent live.
Manicured lawns, sculpted hedges, winding driveways that lead to money,
the American dream. Now it will only epitomize tragic loss, and budding dreams
carried away on the spurious breeze of a hot July night. But know this cousin;
there are no endings in my dream world, no goodbyes. Here you are still alive,
and only the air separates us.

THE BARRY I LOVE...I love the guy who, when growing up,wouldn't let anyone mess with his little sister.(Not the guy who beat me up cuz I didn't get him coffee while he stretched out on the recliner)I love the the guy we picked on,who laughed at himself & was willing to wear the "donkey head" if he did something to warrant it.(Not the guy who talked through his teeth when he was mad...I laughed inside when he did this)

---Continued---
I love the Barry that loved my children & played with & teased them...Uncle Bear. I love the guy who liked pretending hugging his sister was a chore, but had a smile on his face while doing so.(I have pics to back this up)As siblings we had our ups & downs, but I loved him & he loved me. (he reluctantly told me so with that same grin on his face)And now...I'm left with many good memories I carry with me of the BARRY that I love!!!

Little Sister Necie ( Denise), 9 August 2006

Barry was more than just my nephew, he was also my friend. There are many stories, but this one is special to me. Back in the 70's a song called long cool woman in a black dress was released. Barry and I were together the first time we heard it. What Barry thought they were singing was not even close to the actual lyrics. We continued to laugh about his version of the song for the next 30 plus years. We laughed abut it a few months ago. The last time we were out together - continued

Your Uncle and friend, Darryl, 11 August 2006

The day after we said goodbye to Barry, I was praying to our Lord and I asked him if he would please just give me a sign of some kind so I would know that Barry never suffered and that he knew I loved him. A few minutes after my talk with the Lord I turned on my stereo. The DJ said "Here's one from the 70's - long cool woman in a black dress" - Coincidence? I don't believe in Coincidences.
Thank you Lord. And tell Barry to keep singing.

Your Uncle and friend, Darryl, 11 August 2006

Time apart does seem to distance a relationship with family and friends but when you can read, remember, and hear new stories you realize there really is not that much seperating all of us. I don't have a particular story to share but when I think of Barry all I can hear is his laugh. I hope this never changes! It is a fond memory of mine.

Cousin, Tod, 15 August 2006

Barry was one of the best friends i had in life, he brought out a side of me that no one else ever could. He had fun no matter where he was and he could always make you laugh. When you where with Bar he made you feel so special and he was such a loving man. I can still see his beautiful blue eyes and warm smile. I will always love him and miss him there is no one else like him and there never will be.

deborah, 15 August 2006

The one thing you have to remember about Barry is his cute little but and he'd be the first to say it.. and yea "that's what she said"

A Friend, 15 August 2006

Barry, thank you for always being my hero...my protector. At a moments notice you would be there, defending me, no matter what the circumstances were. Most of all thanks for just being my brother. No one know the times and troubles we've shared and I miss you dearly. All my love to you and dad, I know you both are around, I feel your touch when nobody else is there. Til we meet again bro, LY xoxo

Karen (sister), 16 August 2006

Barry was the one who told my brother (Tod) and me about the birds and the bees. We were pretty young, and Barry only a few years older. It was an interesting conversation! We always visited Aunt Sherrill's house at Christmas time as kids. Barry really enjoyed showing everyone his gifts. Not in a selfish way, but in a way that made the people who gave him the gifts know that he really appreciated it. Thanks for teaching that idea to me Barry -- we will miss you.

Cousin Jay, 22 August 2006

Today's your birthday sweetie and it will never be the same again since your gone.. miss you more than words can say..

27 August 2006

We used to kick kickballs onto the roof of allegheny one school and at the end of the day, we would go on the roof to get the balls down. There's nobody that partied more than you and me together. You were more like a brother to me than a cousin. We had alot of good times, like hunting with our fathers together.I lost a very good friend and I wonder everyday when he is going to call my house, and I know he's not going to.I miss you.

Bruce Kaufman, 24 September 2006

They say time heals all wounds - but when you loved someone like Barry there is no healing. Every memory makes your knees buckle every moment makes your heart hurt more. When someone so special is taken from you your angry, your hurt, and mainly confused - why someone so good when there's all these bad people. For those that loved Barry time will not heal there is no bandaid for this wound it just grows with time.. so whoever said time heals all never lost someone so special.

dak, 25 September 2006

Barry it's been 2 months since you left us but to the people that loved you it feels like years. How I long to hear your voice, or feel your arms around me. How I would love to hear "Whats up" or when you where serious "What is up" We miss you soooo much. I wish that where ever you are, you are happy and peaceful but we won't be until we see you again. I love you and miss you. I just miss the sillyness that you brought to everyday, that made me smile.

4 October 2006

Barry, one night as I waited for you to come to my house you where late, when you got there you said you where sorry but your freinds at the bar didn't want you to leave (in your words) you said "When Barry leaves the parties over"..well for those left down here those words could never have been more right.. we miss you and will love you till we see you again.

dk, 11 October 2006

I'm in the falling leaves
I'm the sweet smelling breaze
I'm in your dreams
I'm in your head
I'm still here, I'am not dead
Do not cry for me for I'am near
When your day comes I will be waiting here
I will wrap my arms around you like yesterday
Do not cry for me, I'am not faraway.
