Born:May 27, 1954
Casper, Wyoming
Died:September 2, 2008
Albuquerque, New Mexico
We lost Mike unexpectedly Tuesday evening, September 2nd, 2008. A long time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, he worked very hard for many years as a dedicated food & beverage service industry professional. Before moving to New Mexico, he spent a great deal of his life with his family in Denver, Colorado. Mike was an avid golfer, fisherman and life-long Denver Broncos fan! He truly enjoyed all sports, many other outdoor activities & also living life in the moment. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Betty and Gene O'Brien. Mike is survived by his adoring daughter Kimberly, of Denver, CO., his sister Kathy Allred and husband Bill, of Boise, Idaho, his brother Mark, of Dillon, CO. & also by his best friend & girlfriend of almost 8 years, Cathy Germack. Additionally, he is survived by Cathy's daughter & son-in-law, Lauren and Donny LeFebre, and their children, Ainsley Rain, Alexander James and Angel Grace (who loved their "Grandpa Mike"), and by his aunt, Janet Atkinson of Corona, CA. & her family. Mike left behind enumerable friends & loved ones who brought so much joy to his life. We will all miss him greatly!

Personal Notes

Mike my love, my best friend, I am stunned & overwhelmed with grief by your passing! I wish we could have had much more time together, but I really would not be able to bare your continued suffering & I truly believe you are now in a much better place. Thank you for being you and sharing so much of your life with me!

Cathy,
I am terribly sorry I was never able to meet Mike. I know he must have been a very special man to be with you my dear friend. I trust you will find comfort in knowing that he is in a better place. God is good and will see you through this time of loss.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4
Love,

Cathy, I want to say that, also on behalf of all of the "Volleyball guys" who knew Mike, that you have our deepest condolences. Mike was a truly outgoing, personable guy...who'll be deeply missed.
