Richard A. Popenhagen Jr was born 1 July 1961 in Battle Creek Michigan, the son of Richard A Sr and Gladys (Morehart) Popenhagen. He was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School in 1980.
He was a veteran serving the U.S. Army from July 9, 1979 to May 5, 1986. Also served in the Michigan Army National Guard from December 12, 1986 to February 27, 1993. He received a Good Conduct Medal 2nd award, Michigan Army National Guard Good Conduct Medal, NonCommission Officers Medal, Army Overseas 2nd Award, National Defense Service Medial Desert Storm.
Richard was employed with Publix Supermarkets for 4 years and 4 years wint Astral Pool Products Inc of Jacksonville Florida. He was united in Marriage to Gina Swan on June 6, 1987, in Sturgis Michigan and divorced in 1994.
Surviving are his life long partner William L. Lancaster of Jacksonville, Florida and Gladys Church of Battle Creek Michigan and Brother Kenneth T. Kight (Peggy) of Sturgis Michigan and Daughter Regina Ann (Popenhagen) Swan of White Pigeon, Michigan.
He is proceeded in death by a step mother, Uncle, and both sets of grand parents.
He enjoyed doing family genealogy.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no services. Cremation has already taken place.
Internment will be at Arlington National Cemetary, Arlington, Va.
