After several years of trying for another baby, we finally had done it! I was due on my dads 50th Birthday, October 21, 1999. At 8 weeks I spotted, but after ultrasounds, they said it was nothing. I had a follow up US at 28 weeks, that's when our world came crashing down. Our baby had a chromosome abnormality called Triploidy. An extra set of all of the chromosomes. It's fatal. Most babies miscarry before 20 weeks. Our unborn son-Carter, had already made it 8 weeks past that. The specialists we were seeing encouraged us over and over to "enduce and be done with it". The "it" they reffered to was our son! We chose to continue my pregnancy, leaving Carters life in Gods hands. Wednesday September 29, 1999 Carter Gerald Sandquist was born 3lb 8 oz, 13 inches. Carter had a chance to meet friends and family. Most importantly, we got to meet him. Carter also got a chance to meet his big brothers Jake and Ryan. Carter died in the loving arms of his Mommy and Daddy Friday, October 1, 1999.
His life was short, but his memory will live in our hearts forever.
